Everyone Can Use a Lifeline

Hi, I’m Patrick Venetz. After nearly a decade of serving as a Coast Guard officer managing federal law enforcement, incident management, and maritime search and rescue operations, I felt called to help others in a new way. Life has taught me that no one is immune to its trials and tribulations; however, seeking help is a sign of strength, not weakness. Just as a mariner checks and maintains their safety gear before setting sail, therapy helps to equip you with tools and resources to aid you in navigating life’s voyage. My time in the military gave me firsthand insight into the unique pressures faced by veterans, first responders, and their families, and it’s a privilege now to walk alongside clients who are navigating similar challenges.

Originally from the Adirondack Mountains of upstate New York, I like to spend as much time outdoors as possible—whether that’s playing rugby, golfing, hiking, or camping. That’s how I recenter and refill my cup. With a full cup, I join you in the therapy room with a warm, supportive, and collaborative approach—I believe counseling should be a safe space where you feel heard, understood, and empowered to move toward your goals. I work with individuals, couples, and adolescents facing trauma, anxiety, depression, and relationship struggles, always tailoring evidence-based strategies to meet your specific needs. It would be an honor to be invited to walk alongside you on your journey toward a better tomorrow.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (LPC-A #10678) in the state of South Carolina, under the supervision of Cheryl Hair, Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC-S #10545).

My Story

During sophomore year of my undergraduate studies, I experienced a clear calling to ministry. Though I didn’t yet know what form it would take, I knew God was leading me to serve others more deeply. That call remained with me throughout my nearly decade-long career as a Coast Guard officer, where I worked tirelessly to protect the boating public, safeguard national interests, and enforce international counterdrug law on the high seas. The work was meaningful, but what truly stood out to me was the people—being present with them in moments of struggle, listening, and offering encouragement.

At the same time, I carried the heartbreak of losing several close friends to suicide and drug overdose. These losses, coupled with the heavy realities I witnessed in military service, pressed on my heart and strengthened my conviction that God was calling me into a ministry of presence, healing, and hope.

That conviction ultimately led me to pursue a career as a clinical mental health counselor. For me, counseling is not just a career—it’s a ministry. It is the place where my calling, my military experiences, and my desire to walk with others through their valleys all come together. Today, I consider it a blessing to serve clients by creating a safe, supportive space where faith, healing, and resilience can grow.
