From the Battlefield to the Heart

I bring a unique blend of experience to the therapy room: Part soldier, part chaplain, part therapist, and 100% human. After jumping out of planes as an 82nd Airborne Infantryman Soldier and walking with Soldiers as a U.S. Army Chaplain for over 20 years, I’ve learned a thing or two about pain, resilience, and the power of presence. As a wartime veteran, I know firsthand how hard it can be to ask for help. Sometimes, the hardest battles aren’t on the outside but the ones we fight in silence.

Let’s be honest, admitting we’re struggling can feel like going to sick call for a paper cut: it feels small, but it still hurts, and you know someone’s going to say something. But here's the good news, you're not alone. If we can move past the fear of judgment, we may find that there are people who will truly listen, stand with us, and help us find a way forward. I’d be honored to be one of those people for you.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (LPC-A #9148) in the state of South Carolina, under the supervision of Cheryl Hair, Licensed Professional Counselor (LCP-S #10545).

My Story

People don’t usually plan to become therapists by jumping out of planes, but that’s where my story began. I started my career as an infantry soldier in the 82nd Airborne Division. I was young, eager, and like many Soldiers, I didn’t realize how much I carried emotionally until much later. I deployed to combat zones, witnessed trauma up close, and saw how deep and lasting its impact can be, not just physically, but spiritually and emotionally. I also lost my daughter to a drug overdose, and the loss of a child can be a pain that sticks with you.

After leaving active duty the first time, I followed a call to ministry, eventually becoming a Chaplain in the U.S. Army. For the past 20+ years, I’ve served Soldiers, families, and units through deployments, loss, transition, crisis, and homecomings. I’ve had the sacred privilege of sitting with people in some of life’s darkest moments, at gravesides, in combat hospitals, and in counseling rooms. I’ve also had the joy of helping people heal, reconnect, and rediscover hope.

But even with all that experience, I felt God calling me to go deeper. I pursued advanced degrees in counseling, theology, and leadership because I wanted to bring both Biblical truth and clinical wisdom into the care I offer. My goal has always been to meet people where they are, whether they’re battling depression, dealing with marriage stress, struggling with faith, or trying to make sense of what they’ve lived through.
